Moving into the City of Winnipeg has been a great challenge for many. There are many obstacles to efficient transition to the “big” city. Many of our people face overwhelming problems due to various factors such as cultural dislocation, discrimination and economic hardship. As there continues to be increase migration of First Nation/aboriginal people moving into the City of Winnipeg, there becomes increasing socio-economic pressures towards all levels of government to provide a means of addressing such mobility issues. The creation of the EAGLE Urban Transition Centre provides an alternative solution that will assist in improving one’s individual’s situation, as well as, improving the socio-economic situation of urban First Nation/aboriginal people. |
