INTRO

 

Is a province-wide First Nation/ Aboriginal service delivery agency that advances the principles of healthy independent living by providing leadership and resources to First Nation/Aboriginal people that have relocated or, are residents of the City of Winnipeg.

 
         
RATIONALE
 
Moving into the City of Winnipeg has been a great challenge for many. There are many obstacles to efficient transition to the “big” city. Many of our people face overwhelming problems due to various factors such as cultural dislocation, discrimination and economic hardship.  As there continues to be increase migration of First Nation/aboriginal people moving into the City of Winnipeg, there becomes increasing socio-economic pressures towards all levels of government to provide a means of addressing such mobility issues. The creation of the EAGLE Urban Transition Centre provides an alternative solution that will assist in improving one’s individual’s situation, as well as, improving the socio-economic situation of urban First Nation/aboriginal people.
 
VISION
 
Through the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, we have established a transition centre for all people in need of support and service.
 
 
  Encouragement:
To inspire with hope and courage in the quality of life for First Nation/Aboriginal people, making the transition from an on or off-reserve community
 
 
  Advocacy:
On behalf of First Nations/Aboriginal peoples, providing the resources and to be a liaison for the people on issues that require advocacy support
 
 
  Goal Seeking:
To work as a team internally and externally with the urban communities at large, towards a common vision
 
 
  Language:
Freedom to express our languages, therefore, creating an environment of trust and respect for the people and the transition centre
 
 
  Empowerment:
Is knowledge providing resources for a healthier life style in an urban setting to the individuals, couples, families, elders and communities
